So, there is a possibility that Shakespeare was under the influence of cannabis (basically, he was high) while writing those romantic sonnets and other works, that we all consider masterpieces of course. And if this is true, it proves that cannabis can indeed help in boosting creativity.

2. It is legal for Rasta to use cannabis in Italy

Yes, that’s true. It is legal for Rastafarians to smoke cannabis in Italy. People of the Rastafari religion consume cannabis during their meditation sessions. This happened in 2004 when a Rastafarian man was caught with 8 grams of cannabis and more 50 grams at his home. Due to this, he was sentenced to 4 months of jail and was fined €4,000.

But later, his lawyer argues that consuming cannabis was a religious ritual to his religion. Then the verdict came, and the high court approved for Rastas to use cannabis. 

3. There are hundreds of slang terms for cannabis

What do you like to call it? Cannabis, marijuana, weed, or hash? Well, it turned out that there are more than 200 slang terms for this beautiful herb. Americans adopted the term “marijuana” in the 1930s when Harry Anslinger tried to tie cannabis to immigrant Mexicans. But now we have a lot of slang terms, some of them are weed, grass, ganja, Mary Jane, bud, buddha, cheeba, and pot.

The list does not end here, there are many other interesting names like dinky dow cigarette, hydro, chronic, and Frankenstein. Well, there’s a benefit also to these funny slangs. If there are children around while you are talking about cannabis with someone, maybe you can use these slangs.

4. Bob Marley was buried with cannabis

I don’t even know how to start on this one. He was a true reggae pop star, and he took it to the grave, both literally and figuratively. After his death, Bob Marley was buried near his birthplace in a crypt. There are various things that were included in his burial, such as his crimson Gibson Les Paul guitar, a Bible (which was opened to Psalms 23), a soccer ball, a ring from the son of the Ethiopian emperor and some cannabis.

Now, this is something that really touches your heart and can make you cry. As one of the biggest fans of Bob Marley, this is just so overwhelming for me. All I can say is that I’m sure that the King of ganja is now relaxing with his herb somewhere.

5. Uruguay became the first nation to fully legalize cannabis in 2013

Yes, Uruguay was the first nation in the world that completely legalized cannabis. It is one of the most liberal nations when it comes to narcotics. In fact, before 1974, there was not even a single law to punish someone who possesses narcotics. And then in 2013, Uruguay legalized cannabis completely and became the first nation in the world to do so.

And after learning about Uruguay, I’m not that surprised at this fact. Also, it is also legal to grow cannabis at home in Uruguay. Whereas in the United States, you need to have a medical marijuana grower license to grow cannabis at home for your medical condition.

First, the government of Uruguay legalized the consumption of cannabis. Later, the government allowed residents to grow up to six plants at home. 

6. Cannabis can boost your mood in the same way as chocolate

You must have heard about this one, cannabis is widely known to boost mood. There are many compounds in cannabis, and the two main compounds are THC and CBD. THC is the compound associated with the psychoactive effects of cannabis. In simple language, THC causes the “high” that you feel after consuming cannabis.

THC also works as a great antidepressant, as it connects to the same receptors as your brain’s natural anandamide (also known as “bliss molecule”).
